Does anyone know of a website where I can look at the CA bar Character and Fitness Application without registering? I would like to do this so I can get everything together and then file the application online.

when you register, you do not need to file it at the same time. you can save it, log off, go back again, make changes, correct /edit.

The important thing is that you have a major credit card. The rest is corollary.

Just log on and begin the application process, as you can log out and all the information will be saved. Do it ASAP, as it takes a while to get a response...take it from me!!! It sucks having to wait and already having passed the bar.

Yes, fill it out soon. If you are lucky they won't ask about an alias that you mistakenly listed but cleared up months ago, and they won't delay your answer for who knows how long over it. What's the point of spending almost $1000 for the moral character determination if they take so long to do it? Especially if you have to take care of a disabled relative, they should have some compassion and get it done much quicker. We pay for this and they should have our answers in a reasonable time. 7 months and counting is way too long, and no way to treat paying customers.

To the troll above. Stay on topic. These trolls are like viruses-spread themselves to every thread.

Like you, I prefer to spread out papers and get things organized, so I logged in and printed each screen, then laid out the papers and went to work filling it in and getting background documents. There are about 21 screens, but don't be alarmed. Many may not apply, such as mental illness, chemical dependency, military service, professional licenses, litigation, convictions, and so on. When I got everything together, and got the back-up documents for some of the Yes answers, e.g., litigation, name change, and so on, then I peacefully sat down and entered the data into each screen online. Like everybody else says, do it as soon as possible. It took me weeks to collect all the data I needed, and it will probably take at least four months (if you're lucky) to have it approved. Good luck.

I have no background issues and I don't graduate until May (will sit for July 11 bar). I will send in the application in October and hopefully it will be done by late spring.
