Anyone know which states release bar exam results first? I believe North Carolina may be one of the 1st ones, but not sure. Just wondering because it will give those of us (who won't know anything until Nov) some idea of how the MBE was scaled.

Arizona mails out mbe results really early - last week of Aug/first week Sep. 'Total' bar results follow a few weeks later.

Yeah, NC i think is end of the month, and i think arizona is pretty early too (or at least they give mbe out early even though the final score comes later). not sure where else. its weird to think our mbe is probably completely graded and scaled, but we have to wait till nov to get our score. i think beginning of oct penn comes out, which gives the national mbe average on their site. Illinois is out by then too i think. last year xoxo had the mbe scale down by the first week of sept.

They will release the national mean mbe scaled score in early october.  The july mbe mean scale runs in the 140s.

Yup, NC will probably mail results next Friday. But NC, like many other states, is very very very secretive about results. They only send MBE scaled and essay grades to examinees who FAIL the exam. And even then, the examinee must request it in writing and wait 1-2 weeks after finding out that he/she failed--for the detailed letter. If you pass, you will never find out how you did on the MBE/essays. I find it strange that they expect us to be completely transparent and yet they hide important information from us. This makes me very suspicious about the entire grading process, I must say! I think it should be investigated--on a national level.

Scaled mean in Arizona was 146.8
Low was 96.7
High was 178.5

I recieved 143.1 and I'm neither happy nor sad - well i thank God it wasn't terrible...but the essays count for 2/3 (mbe 1/3) and we don't find out our total score and pass/fail status until October 8th which is also my birthday - i find that kinda scary.

you got the MBE results? you mean they sent you the results by installment?

what is the scaled score last year for your state?

from elsewhere on the web I found that the scaled MBE mean score for July 2009 was 146.2 - overall passage rate 78%. For Feb. 2010 scaled mean MBE was 140.5 - overall passage rate 63.3%. Looks like more people pass when the mean is higher.
