Anyone had their ex accuse them of stalking? |

Ok, so we broke up 3 weeks ago, the day after the bar exam (I know, I know).. it was mutual and on relatively good terms. Yesterday I email her just to see how things are going, since we agreed to be friends. Mind you this is 3 weeks of no contact and I'm out of the country. Suddenly she emails MY SISTER saying I'm 'stalking' her. Anyone experienced this or have any possible explanation? I read up that there is a thing called 'persecutory delusions' where the subject deals with difficult situations by convincing themselves they are being harrassed. Perhaps it's an attention-getting strategy, or defense mechanism? Either way, it's made me quite upset, and I guess there's nothing I can do. I believe she had a past history of abuse. I'd let it go, but I'm mildly concerned that she might start spreading this fabrication around, just as I'm trying to find a job...

if things are the way stated, she definitely wants attension or wants to feel "desired". It's a good thing that you learnt of this early from your sister so you wont attempt to write her again to find out why she did not reply. Now that you know, don't write her again or even respond if she writes you. She may then use it all against you. Forget her and go about your new life. Good luck

I agree with methinks. Do not respond to any of her email's, text, calls or any form of communication. As a matter of fact don't discuss anything about her with mutual friends. If she is the same room wiith you at a gathering and sneezes, do not even say "Bless you." Just leave the room. She is a poison that you do not want to ruin your hard earned career!

you're lucky it happened after he bar exam. My bf called me at 1:30am the morning of the MBE to tell me that he was seeing someone else. He said he wanted to tell me so that I would have time to cancel my flight to see him the next day.... how considerate of him... As for your situation, I'm a psychologist that worked with patients with paranoid schizophrenia so I'm quite familiar with persecutory delusions. While what you said is true - the delusion can be characterized as a defense - such "delusions" are extremely uncommon - if not unheard of - outside of the context of paranoid schizophrenia or delusionsal disorder. If she never exhibited behavior like that before, its highly unlikely she has any delusions. Rather, such behavior appears like a borderline personality trait. You can google it to get a description, so I won't rehash it on here. There's also the possibility that she thinks you are stalking because of things that other people told her that are untrue, or because of assumptions she has made. It's probably wise that you heed others' advice and ignore her. I'm sure you have nothing to worry about; its not like employers are going to care what your ex gf has to say about you, and police won't even pursue a report or file charges without any actual proof.

see-- this is what happens when you study too hard for the bar. You drive your significant other nuts! Seriously, you should be happy you got rid of a scumsucker. To the original poster - Have you thought about things from perspective of your ex? Do you think she has any reason to think you were really dogging her? Maybe unanswered phone calls? Maybe inquisitive friends asking "how are you doing?" Maybe there is a third person involved giving your ex the appearance that you were watching her?

Can you tell me why you did both degrees and what you plan to do with them? I'm currently done with the JD and going to apply for PhDs. I don't have the grades in law school, but my undergrad was a 3.64 and the GRE scores were 670 math (64% percentile) and 570 verbal (77th percentile). What are my chances even?

I earned the degrees concurrently in a specialized six-year program that tries to integrate them. My original goal was to work in the trial consulting business, but seeing that there aren't many open positions at this time, I'm not sure I'll end up using both degrees. The past two years I've worked in a psychiatric prison, so that remains a possibility. If anything, its just giving me more flexibility in looking for employment. A lot of places seem to be "impressed" but it really isn't getting me in the door anywhere. I was valedictorian of the law school and had a 3.97 in the PhD program, and I'm STILL having a hard time finding employment. A phD program is a big investment. I'd be sure you REALLY want to do it before you dive in.
