I will be sworn in September 15 and received two guest tickets. I was wondering if my 4 year old daughter is considered as a guest? Or can I bring her as long as she sit with her mother? I am trying to bring my mother, wife, and daughter who is 4 years old to the ceremony. Anyone who was sworn in Brooklyn, I appreciate your advice in advance. Thanks

Do you consider your daughter as a person/human being? If so, then you will have to choose 2 people to accompany you. You said that you have three people and you are only allowed to bring 2 people. I'm sorry to sound harsh, but it's very simple. YOU ARE ONLY ALLOWED 2 GUESTS! We all wish we can bring more than two, but clearly if you have a law degree and if you are about to take an oath to be an ethical attorney, you should not be attempting to find ways to sneak a third person into a ceremony that prohibits you to bring more than two people.

I was told by my interviewer only 2 guests and children count as guests.

Leave the 4-yr old at home. First, she's not going to remember it, so it will have zero significance to her. If you need her there because you want her to feel proud of you, seek therapy. Little worse than a parent dependent on a child for acceptance. Second, no one...and, I mean NO ONE, wants some cryin-ass kid in the gallery during the swearing in. Not to mention the "excuse me, so sorry, excuse me..." from the adult that has to slide past everyone in that cramped area with said cryin-ass kid in tow. Finally, you're not really going to get to spend any time with your visitors anyway. You go to one room; they go to another. You stand up in front of the robes; they sit in the gallery. After you've mumbled the oath, they leave; you take their seats in the gallery and wait to come up and sign the roll book.
