For any out of staters who might know, if you are applying to the CA bar you get the live scan exemption. I can't find the fingerprint forms (Form 258) on the website. Where do we obtain the fingerprint forms to get fingerprinted?

Your local police station should have the form and should be able to do your fingerprints right there, electronically. IIRC, it cost me about $60. This was a couple years ago, and I can't remember what all I needed to bring to the police station, so it might be best to give them a call and find out.

You need to call the Cal Bar office and they will mail you two fingerprint cards and the form for excemption from Live Scan. Those cards used to be freely available from most local law enforcement agencies; however, since the Sept. 11 attacks they are now more tightly controlled.

Do we send the cards to the Cal Bar office or does the local law enforcement agency?

I did my fingerprinting at a Police station just 2 months back and they had the manual finger printing. They refused to send it to the Bar themselves, so I sent both the cards along with my Moral Character documents. It was accepted by the Bar.
